It's a term of endearment, as if you were to call him Honey.

Its a specific speech pattern to the man in question. Baby may just be his term of endearment, if you don't like it tell him, but make sure its in a positive way. Don't come off as a nag who doesn't like to be sweet talked or you might not get it again.

Anyone can say a few words. Any guy can say a few words. It varies for everyone. But since you've been dating for a year I'd probably say he means it. It's not like it's the same for every guy, one guy could be an idiot player, while another is the sweetest, nicest guy ever. It's different for everyone.

My dad calls my mom 'baby' all the time and they've been married for 21 years. I agree, it's just a term of endearment.

I don't see why not. Different people use different endearments. My bf uses honey, baby, sweet, sweetie...mostly honey. Then there's a whole slew of mock nicknames we come up with to disgust one another - poopkins, sweetpea, pumpkin, etc.

It's not exactly about the word "baby"
It's about the way he say it to you ..
+
you are the only one who can tell if it's true or not ..
it's something that you can feel
*****I guess it's not true ..just because you doubt it

why wouldn't it be. i use babe all the time to describe women i really like. i don't see how it could be offensive unless your thinking we mean like an actual baby. no it's just a nickname like cupcake or honey. a guy doesn't think your like honey really it's just a phrase.

Look at his actions, rather than dissecting his words. Does he show respect and love in the way he treats you?
He sounds like a smooth talker. It may be speech patterns he picked up from his father or friends. There may be sincerity in them. Close your eyes and listen to the sound of his voice rather than the words he is saying. Do you hear sincerity or do you hear a falseness?

It depends on the man. Sometimes it is real but other times men just say it to make you feel like he does love you when he doesnt. That one is always confusing, you've just gotta trust him on that one
