Hi, well sometimes it's not always best to talk to your family and that is because just like you said they don't understand where your coming from. You must have a really cool friend that understands you better than anyone, friends are cool and they are really good supports and the understanding comes along with that, so if you haven't tried already just confide in a good friend. Maybe also you have another relative that can understand things more than your family that you live with and ya know grandmothers and grandfathers are awesome with understanding.

Well good luck.

Let me guess... you're a teenager. This is perfectly normal. You're going through a lot of chaotic changes, so it's hard to express yourself clearly, and your family members have their own issues to deal with, so they can't always look at yours objectively. Think of it this way: everyone sees the world through their own lenses - right now you're trying on many different glasses, with pink or blue or green lenses, so things look different to you on different days, as your mind grows and expands. But if your dad is used to looking at things through a green lens, and your mom through a pink lens, and you're wearing yellow lenses, then none of you are going to see an object the same way. So keep that in mind when you talk to them... it's not that they don't care or don't want to understand, it's just that everyone has a different viewpoint.

Also, trying keeping a journal and writing down all these things. It will help you understand and clarify what you're trying to tell them. If it's something really urgent and life-threatening, or you need a specific response, then start out by telling them that "Mom, I have something really serious to ask you, I think I'm sick and need you to take me to the doctor; Dad, I'm afraid I'm going to fail math, I want you to sign me up for tutoring; etc."

you know those cute little shops where you can buy the "WELCOME FRIENDS" signs?

Have you ever seen any that said welcome family??

You're stuck with your family but you can choose your friends. If your lucky, some members of your family can become friends.

You just need to be content with the person you are. Just because you might have the same color eyes, or the same skin coloring, or look like your grandmother's side of the family... it doesn't mean that you have to behave like the rest of your family. You can be a decent, kind and understanding person and feel better about yourself because of it.

with any luck, they might catch on.

Family is the group of people that you are born into not necessarily the people you would choose as friends or people that will support and understand you.

Listen to your heart. Listen to yourself. Find the support and understanding within yourself. It is not your responsibility to please your family. It is your responsibility to find your own happiness and passion in life. When they offer advice, listen sincerely and respectfully but make it clear that you will make your own choices.

Be honest. If they are pointing out real weaknesses in you or problems in your life, accept their advice and help.

Do you have any siblings? Maybe you can ask them for help.
