I had a neurologist who made sure the prescription was for dilantin. It cost more than the generic but he felt it was better. Now I'm beginning to take it again, only under a different doctor, and she ordered phenytoin. So I'm curious if there is a comparison between the two drugs. Are they the same or is there a reason to chose one over the other? thanks.

I've had to take Dilantin all my life due to Epilepsy. It all depends on what works for you. I've had alot of Dr.'s try to keep me on
the name brand but, the generic worked alot better for me plus
it's about $80 bucks cheaper. Don't let every doctor you see change what is already working.
