The "HEART", without the Heart we are nothing, it's more powerful than the Brain, for nothing can survive with out it. The more energy we use the harder the Heart pumps leaving us at times short of breath. This includes thinking and let me tell you the Heart has to pump 100 times harder just to figure out what to say to the most beautiful opposite sex we have ever laid eyes on (LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT/TO DIE FOR). Although our Brains are thinking of something to say or do our Heart skips a beat and rapidly pumps making us dizzy and sweaty and breathless and ............(Feelings), well you know what I mean.

So, when Jesus always used the term "From the Heart" he meant that our Heart is the source of our being and when we are true and prepared for the unexpected our hearts will be steady and pure.

Excellent Question!!!!

Sincerely,
SuperDave

Hmm, That is a very good question I would say it comes from Symbolism I.E. Buddha or a Cross for Religion the symbol for Love is a heart kind of like the symbol for happiness is a big smile face, or like on msn or yahoo all the Emoticons you can use to show emotions. I also believe the symbol originated that heart is for love because if you have ever been heart broken it actually does feel like there is a pain in your chest where your heart is :)

Feelings are the emotional expression of heart, mind and soul combined together.

Emotional, biologic and spiritual self rolled into one.

A marriage of 3 seperate but equally important thingies.

Passion is much the same, but probably affected by ingrained and learnt behaviour to do with pro-creation. Therefore, a bit more dodgy. i.e Don't do it whilst wearing beer goggles or dark sunglasses!

Passion is the awkward one here (in your question) because it could be objective or subjective or even something else entirely.

Yeah thanks for that! I 'was' enjoying a confusion free evening for a change .... cheers ;)

It's a societal thing. In Biblical times, the seat of the soul (nowadays the heart) was the kidneys.

The heart as the seat of the soul might have originated because blood is/was considered your life force, what keeps you alive. We like to think that the strength of our emotions is as strong as our will to live, so it makes sense that they would spring from the heart.

Feelings arise from the whole body, including your sweat glands, your heart, your adrenal glands, your muscles, and your brain, where the information is integrated. The belief that emotion and thoughts are from the heart is an ancient and cross-cultural one.

I think it's because a common manifestation of strong feelings (such as fear or love or nervousness) is an increase in heart rate and strength of contraction, or irregular heart rates. This is easily felt and occurs most commonly with these feelings, so it's natural to come to the conclusion that emotions reside in the heart.

That is not where they REALLY come from. Emotions and passion are actually reactions in the brain. It's just more romantic to say it comes from your heart.

because with out your heart you would be dead!! you can survive as long as your heart is pumping and when you are hurt u feel like your going to die and it is only natural that you would feel the pain in the one organ that is keeping you alive:)

that's a crazy question, LOL! I feel you though. I guess we should say that they come from the brain but that doesn't sound too sexy now does it?
