I counted last night and can crack over 30 joints in my body. This seems unhealthy but it's so uncomfortable (and habitual) not to. I crack:

Both joints in all my fingers (20)
My Neck on Both Angles(1)
All my toes (10)
Both Ankles (2)
Both Sides of my hips (2)
My Jaw (1)
Both Wrists (2)
By pushing both my shoulders back I crack the top of my back
And the most worrying, I can sit and pull myself around to the left or right and crack the middle of my back.

I really feel like I should stop, especially with my back. I'm only 20 and take cod liver oil tablets to try and keep me "well oiled". I eat very healthy, vegetables and fruit with lots of exercise. But I've been doing this for years. Is anyone else in the same boat as me? Has anyone given up and has any tips?

You're not cracking any bones. You're, in the case of your back, probably hearing fluid movement. Just like you would at a chiro. THe other joints are either fluid or tendons. It doesn't cause arthritis. If it did everyone that goes to a chiropractor would have spinal arthritis. You can't move any bones, joints or vertebrae that easily.

Every bone in my body cracks too for a reason. Every tiime you crack a bone you are breaking down the calcified tissue which make up for your entire Skeleton, thus wearing & tearing down r bones & marrow. If you don't stop playing around like this you'll soon be where I'm at. Acute Arthitis, inflammation of joints has no age limit, even children, and it comes on on quickly associated with pain, heat, redness & swelling. I took the time out to read my medical book because I want u 2 know the seriousness of what r doing! I have Ostio-Athritis, Fibromyalgia, (a bone joint decease) Sciatica (bone muscle tissue) and in constant pain daily, have a cane and take 13 pills per day. I don't ever want to see wind up like this for just joking around. Just Concerned about you that's all.
I hope you understand r look into r computer about this?

It isn't bad to crack anything. Some people say that cracking your bones leads to arthritis, but this is not true. Arthritis is common in joints, so it seems cracking would cause it but it doesn't.
And yes, im a chronic joint cracker too. =)

Cod liver tablets do NOT keep you "well oiled" except in your colon. You aren't the Tim Man using an oil can.

You are going to have serious arthritis at a very young age.

Recent studies have shown that cracking bones don't lead to arthritis. If you want to break the habit for the sake of other people and yourself, it's all your own will power

I heard that it is bad for you, but I am in the same boat. I know that it is uncomfortable, but if you focus on not doing it it gets harder to crack them.

cracking your joints is not that bad. it actually releases the air pockets from where your joints meet and allow for better movement.

Although I don't think there is need for concern, probably nobody is really qualified to tell you, so I would just ask my doc.
