I have a BS in Biology (University of CA), Evolution is really the foundation of all current bio-science and medicine, I really can't over emphasize the contributions of evolutionary theory to modern science and medicine.

I have a BS in Veterinary and worked in medicine for many years before studying and then going into the computer industry...before going into culinary arts. I believe in evolution. However, I'm not an atheist. I'm an Asatruar. So I still don't believe in the whole Adam and Eve myth and I'm pretty well educated. Now that we've established that...
You can see evidence of evolution in humans. These are called vestigial structures. Basically, they are 'parts' (to dumb it down for some people) that we no longer need. The ones most of you probably know are the wisdom teeth and the appendix. Most people also have a coccyx and plica semilunaris. Other vestigial structures are still debated as to their usefulness in modern man, but I don't doubt they'll soon be part of the standard list.
Most animals have vestigial structures. A mole's eyes, a whale's hip bone......you get the idea.
It's pretty difficult not to believe in evolution when you've been up to your elbows in any species during gross anatomy class, surgery or a necropsy. I haven't turned my back on my faith as a result of this simple truth. As a matter of fact, it has only reinforced my faith. I know the Gods and Goddesses were wise enough to speak to my ancestors in terms they could easily understand. After all, we don't explain thermal conduction to a small child, do we? We just yell, "HOT!"

Yes, there are -- 99% of the biologists currently doing research. Some 65% of all of the biologists since Darwin's time. All were atheists or agnostics.
Me personally -- I keep up on the science (subscribe to peer-reviewed journals, have several friends actively doing research). But my own fields of study were engineering and mathematics.
You don't have to do the work yourself to understand the validity of the evidence. That's the beauty of science (unlike religion) -- it's all published, out there, available...all of the observations, fossil evidence, experiments, studies, etc. Anyone can read them, and if you find a fault with them you can contact the researchers directly. They're very open to hearing *scientific* criticism of their work -- it often helps them clarify things or find new things to investigate. And you can judge the validity of the evidence yourself -- no "belief" needed. You don't have to take anybody's word for anything -- other than finding specific fossils, the vast majority of the other experiments and observations are repeatable by anyone, and most of them are repeated by non-related groups as verification of their accuracy.

Are there any Christians who have actually gone out into the real world and found evidence for creation themselves?
Just curious--- if you're one of them, do tell.

I’m a physicist, but I assisted a friend bio major with a experiment on bacteria resistance to antibiotics. Basically evolution on the small scale.

Not atheist, but yes I have. Dogs are a clear example of evolution. Within 20 years you can create a entirely new species of dog, through artificial breeding. (Artificial breeding is where we find aspects we want in a specific dog and allow only it to breed, after the new batch of dog, we find the one that has the highest quality of the aspect, we continue the process until we have an entire litter that has those qualities)

My wife. She has a Masters in Molecular Genetics.
And I have personally been to the zoo. I have been to the museum of natural history. You know, there is a bunch of evidence there. Heck, you can look at your own body. You probably had to have your wisdom teeth pulled and you can tell you have a tail bone.
