Well, first, love is not inspired by hormones. That is, of course, lust. Nothing wrong with lust, I'm just clarifying definitions.
Second, love is respectful. You should treat everyone with respect, but even more so those you preofess to love. You can completely disagree with every word a person is saying, and everything a person is doing, and you can say so, but you can do it respectfully. Love is when you can remember to refrain from personal insults when you get angry and disagree, out of respect for the other persons feelings, and realizing that the damage may last longer than angry feelings. It is also respectful to yourself to be able to refrain from lashing out to hurt other people.
Love is remembering to put yourself in the other persons shoes, and trying to figure out what the world looks like from their perspective (not your own) as often as you can. At least once a day.
And this is what the bible says:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres
(1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

Love is what it feels like when you are you deepest with that one person. You and only you have that magical connection and that is what makes it love also being there for that person and doing anything that make you happy. It can go with a relationship or with other things. I love school because I like to learn and see people ge the consept of things that I know that is not easy. Love is also what makes you happy. I love talking to my grandmother on the phone because she makes me happy.

Philosophers, theologists, the world's greatest thinkers have asked the very same question. I don't think there is a set answer. I guess for me love is wanting to be with that person and liking them despite their flaws. Its a matter of compromises. Love undefined. There are no set rules.

It is when you feel as if you can't live without that person. You eat, sleep, and breathe them. All you care about is making that person happy and building your life with them. Best of luck.
