I recently purchased a digital camera with 512 internal memory.Whenever I attempt to capture a picture,I am getting the message no card. Please tell me what is the function of internal memory in a digital camera and are memory cards used to drive the internal memory to function.Whenever I connect the camera to my PC the system recognises the camera as a removable disk storage with 0 bytes capacity sice no card is inserted. Why does the system not read the storage capacity of the internal memory.
Anyone please explain the technology.

No, memory cards are not required to access internal memory. If fact, most cameras will only use internal memory if there is no card inserted or the card is full.

Check in your Setup Menu to see if your camera requires an explicit setup to use internal memory.

Check back with the people who sold you this camera and verify the internal memory. (512MB is an unusually high amount of internal memory.)

Or the internal memory may be defective.

Good Luck

512 is quite a bit of internal memory. Many cameras automatically default to internal memory if no card is inserted. Maybe you have to set something through the menu?
Memory cards are cheap now. You can probably find a 1G card for around $20 on sale.
