i want to make cookies and the recipe call for baking soda will they still come out ok?

Baking soda is used in baking as a leavening. It is that which gives breads, cakes, muffins, pancakes, cookies, and so forth the ability to rise and increase in volume. So your cookies will not rise and will be flat.

the baking soda provides some fluffiness to the cookie.
You are at risk of making cookies that are a little denser than you're used to.
