Well what do you know? Montoya came over here, and beat everybody on a road course. So i guess last year when they said nascar had the best drivers in the world, they were wrong. And the funny thing is, Montoya was not even close to being the best in formula1. He was having a terrible season in F1 last year, and opted out of his contract. He could have gone back to the IRL, or champcar. But, instead he chose Nascar. you know why? $$$ ! Nascar is over-paying those drivers like crazy. They certainly are not the best drivers, and yet are only second in salary to F1. Thats because these sponsors will shell out the big bucks, because they know most of us americans are watching this garbage. Americans love the crashes, the fights, and all the rest of the circus acts that make up Nascar. Because of this money, it is taking some good talent out of REAL series like IRL, and champ car. I dont get it america...what is so great about a bunch of heavy, slow cars going around ovals 500 times?

Well i see a guy named "redneck" down below falls into the category of idiot. Look, montoya left F1 because he was not very good. He went to Nascar because chip ganassi offered him a huge contract. And have you ever watched an F1 race? It doesent seem so. And oh yea, its really fun watching 43 cars all going the exact same speed bump into each other and turn left all day long. Seriously, you hillbilly idiots are giving us REAL american racing fans a bad name. Just stay down south where you belong.

I am not generally a fan of NASCAR, but I am a fan of F1... but just because the skill set needed for most NASCAR races is different than commonly used in most F1 races doesn't mean that the drivers are somehow lesser. It's a different event with different criteria for success.

When it's all said and done, some of the drivers in NASCAR could likely be consdiered among the best in the world while others would fall short of this. The same could be said of just about any professional series. The fact that NASCAR chooses to market itself with a slogan isn't anything other than marketing... other series have had similar marketing comments as well.

Juan Pablo Montoya was one of the more talented drivers in F1. His abilities when traction was not ideal (cold tires, rain, etc) and his feel for setting up and making a pass in some of the most improbable spots showed all the marks of the great drivers. His inability to really work with his engineers and get the most from his car and team kept him from reaching the level of being a potential winner every week and in championship contention at the end of the year! He decided to leave F1 when it became clear there would be no seat offered from a team that would be competitive. I am happy he landed well.

As for why would someone like NASCAR? Why would someone like F1? Or WRC? There are certain aspects to that competition that is appealing. Some people love baseball but not football, and so on and so on. Because NASCAR is not someone's particualr taste doesn't mean it's worthless or stupid, it only means it's not their taste.

This will probably draw a lot of fire, BUT most Americans enjoy NASCAR because it's easy to follow. Especially when you're hammered. THEY'RE MAKIN' ANOTHER LEFT TURN, THEY'RE MAKIN' ANOTHER LEFT TURN!!!! Michael Andretti even made fun of the the IRL oval series in the Honda commercial asking why would you turn right.
I do watch the Daytona (only race on that time of year)and the road courses, but ovals are boring( TO ME ). I love F1, WRC and MOTO GP.

So champ car is a "real" series now? Is that why they're going down the toilet? And you're calling NASCAR racecars slow?!? 200 mph, 43 cars, inches apart from eachother... Please don't tell me that's boring. You know what is boring, a bunch of cars going around a track with nothing happening, no passing or anything. That's what champ car and f1 is, single file racing the whole fricken time (yawn). I aint sayin anything bad about Indy, I enjoy the IRL. But don't dis NASCAR when Montoya goes from the most boring motorsport to the most exciting because he knows what real racing is.

The .1RL does NOT have talented drivers - see the princess of put - Danikova Patrick.

Tony George is propping up more than half of the field with Tonybux (Honda yen).

The biggest crime is that SeaBass is NOT in F1. I am happy that he is coming back to Champ Car - but he deserves a shot in F1 more than Scott Speed.

Let us not discuss how many races someone has seen on TV, answer to the public.... exactly how many F1 or even open wheel races have you attended. You sit up here and stir up things wherever you can, then when Yahoo stops letting you post, you change IDs. We know who you are.

the suitable drivers each and every twelve months are Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, and Kurt Busch. each and every twelve months additionally has some one-off hits. This twelve months, they are Kasey Kahne and Kyle Busch. final twelve months, they have been Martin Truex and Kurt Busch. And Montoya is perchance the suitable motive force of all of them, yet he has inferior kit (provide him a smash. He drives a circumvent)

Talk your smack when Juan Pablo wins a NASCAR NEXTEL CUP RACE... Not a BUSCH race in Mexico City where most of the Cup Regs didn't run. Don't get me wrong, I like Juan Pablo and hope he does good.. But fact is fact.. he's ran like shlt so far in the Cup series and will not get a win this season in Cup. Now, Shut your F1 loving mouth and take a hike, kid...

You can be as good as you want, if you do not have the team the car and the engine to win ... you suck.
I would be curious to see what Chumacher would have done if he raced for Spyker or BMW. Trust me as good as he is he wouldn't have many poles and wins.
