I mean things to do while others are riding the trails. Things for the older generation and the younger.

Doing a poker ride is great for groups. You need a couple decks of cards, riders and voulenteers or baskets at each stop. As you ride, each rider collects cards as they ride. At the end of the ride you can have a group meeting, picnic or other meeting, at that time each person looks at their "hand" and the winner would get a prize or maybe a silly trophy that the group could pass along.
This is a fun idea for groups of people that are able to meet up and have fun with their horses.

Go and have fun riding in water, have a poker trail ride - hide some cards in the woods (on trail) and find who win a royal flush. Think of many neat things....sing songs....ride on roads.... Host a weekend trail ride, have a show along with the trail rides and stuff... Camp with the horses in the wilderness.

REMEMBER - HAVE FUN!!

I hope this will help you.....

One of the saddle clubs in our area sponsers poker rides.
The people who are not riding help out with the card stops for the riders.
They have a picnic and then a dance and dinner. They use it as a fund raiser for the club and they give away prizes and raffle things off. It is a great success and they are now doing two rides per year.

Hah. We always entertain ourselves, singing, playing games, racing each other, finding the best logs to jump. Singing random songs never gets old, its amazing what we come up with. ha ha =D
