Bob L: You're wrong in stating that the approved apparitions of Fatima and Lourdes are drawing away the focus on Jesus and our salvation by His sacrifice.
All mary asks at both apparitions are : Pray! Do penance! Jesus asks us to do the same thing in the Gospel.

The Catholic Church has always taught that we are only saved by the grace of God and by the sacrifice of Jesus. Nothing else. You can check for yourself in any cathechism.

Logically speaking that is true, but religion has nothing to do with logic.

If God loves His Mother and showers Her with honor and priviliges who are we mere sinful mortals to argue with Him?
If we desire to please God we must honor His decisions. If He decides to send His beloved Mother to warn us of impending dangers and chastisements shouldn't we be grateful to Him for His Mercy? No. Rather we pathetic human beings doubt and wonder and despise the Beautiful, Tender Mother who comes to warn Her children and brings a loving message from Her Son.
If God sent Prophets in the past with messages and warnings what is to stop Him from sending His Mother who is the Queen of Prophets with a message and warning.
Remember that when Our Lady appears it is not to the pompous, proud and doubtful, rather she appears to little children, shepherds, uneducated, innocent and humble.
P.S. By the way the Medjugorje apparitions are not approved by the Catholic church . The Fatima and Lourdes apparitions have been thoroughly investigated by the church and approved as being the apparitions of Mary.

Because He is true to His own word. He's told us that there is ONE MEDIATOR between God and man, and that's the man Jesus Christ.
He has also warned His followers about lying signs and wonders.
The apparitions of Mary at Lourdes, Fatima, and Guadalupe, and Mujughorie(sp?) all work to draw attention AWAY from Jesus Christ and focus upon the Virgin Mary.
Why would Jesus send ANYONE in direct contradiction to His Word?

Hi there, its horribly cold in Valley Forge, PA!!
I'm a non-denominational Christian, but I was brought up Catholic.
Of course there is absolutely nothing to hinder God from sending Mary to do His work; does God not send human beings to do his work as well?
I'm quite sure there are millions of examples of God's working through the lives of common people, that we aren't even aware of.
The children of Fatima and Bernadette at Lourdes - sure thats possible;
I think the answerer who brings up Scripture about being careful that you are not deceived is equally as credible, though.
Don't forget we fight the war against principalities in dark places, and they are hard at work doing those things they do as well,
so it doesn't hurt to be very, very careful about what you accept as truth.
Since Mary only passed a message of love and prayer along, and included nothing that could be taken as Anti-Christian, etc, that it's a non-issue.
I would be extremely vigilant about too much attention to Mary (God Bless her) and not enough direct communication with Christ, and knowledge with understanding, in the Word of God.

I believe Jesus Christ God Almighty sends His mother, the Blessed Virgin as signs for people as He did in Fatima and Lourdes. There is also one called Medjugorje.

Because Jesus is the Living Word and The Bible is the Written Word and The Holy Spirit is the Mighty Counselor so there is no need of dead people speaking which is necromancy.

Jesus is a prophet, he is not God. God has no partner. He was not begotten nor did he beget. If Jesus is the son of God, why isn't Adam as well?
