A person can only offer a sincere "Amen" when he has actually heard the prayer in a language he understands. The apostle Paul pointedly instructed the early Christian congregation that anyone who felt the need to speak in a foreign language at a congregation meeting should be silent if an interpreter was not available.

(1 Corinthians 14:26-28) Let all things take place for upbuilding. And if someone speaks in a tongue, let it be limited to two or three at the most, and in turns; and let someone translate. But if there be no translator, let him keep silent in the congregation and speak to himself and to God.

Regarding "Amen"... In ancient Israel, the word obligated oneself solemnly and legally to an oath or contract (Nu 5:22; De 27:15-26; Ne 5:13). The expression was certainly not a trivial formality, and should not be treated so today.

speaking in tongues is stupid.

u never see anyone from a church that doesnt practice/preach it, speak in tongues.

the only people who do it are people who have been exposed to that teaching.

its obviously just an act. if it was from god, then it wouldnt matter if youve been taught it or read the verse. people who believe and have no idea what speaking in tongues is, should alsp speak in tongues.

Why say Amen to any prayer? People don't understand the origin of the word and how it was originally used. Yes, in today's church, it is used for acknowledgment.

The word 'amen' means 'I believe' or 'I concur'. Someone who believes that speaking in tongues is something that comes directly from God, then such a person would assume that anything said 'in tongues' is God's will and beneficial and would concur.

Because God knows the intent of everything you do and say. So if you say something that was not meant to be rude, but somebdoy thinks it was rude, God will know that you didn't mean to offend anyone. so if you say amen, but in the woerd tongue language, God will know you said Amen.
