It went something like this,
"Hey, Lucifer, go mop the floor."
"Hey, God, I'm the top-f'ing-angel. Have someone else do it."
"GO TO HELL"
.. That was about it.

Originally Satan was not a bad guy. He was one of the top angels that served God. He was loved by God, shown a lot of attention. It is how good and powerful he's become that led to his downfall. He decided that he's so good that he's even better than God. And that big ego of his led to a bunch of selfish choices. He wanted all of the attention for himself, so he convinced as many other angels as he could to worship him instead (he got 1/3 of them to join him). Then he spent the rest of the time trying to sabotage everything God did, including causing as much pain and suffering as he could to the people God created and loved.
So Satan's seemingly small sin of disobedience and egotism has led to all the pain and suffering in the world. And while Satan may have originally been a generally good guy, who just got a bit too much success than he can handle, at this point, after spending centuries upon centuries of doing nothing but the most hateful stuff, inspiring people to do the most hideous crimes, he's definitely now a very, very bad guy.
P.S. Unlike many others I do not however believe that every sinful thing people do is because Satan has caused them to do so. Everyone needs to take responsibility for their choices. In some cases, yes, their may have been demonic influence, but in general I think that people give Satan way too much credit in that respect. Still, it's thanks to him that we have sin in the first place, so while the next time I curse it's not going to be because "he told me to do it" (it's not like I hear voices in my head, or I have the angel and demon sitting on my shoulders as in cartoons), it's thanks to him that I know how to be rebellious and disobedient and selfish, so he's bad enough, don't you think?

Satan is Evil! He tempted Adam and Eve, that's why people don't live in a beautiful garden together when there on earth.>=( He also tempted Jesus for 40 days. Satan is just a rebelious serpent looking for trouble, and ways to hurt people. That's why he owns Hell!

Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Isa 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

SATAN IS THE FATHER OF SIN. Everytime someone in this world is murdered, killed, raped, etc, it is because of Satan. How is that not bad?
God created us to be perfect beings, to have the perfect body, the perfect mind, etc. The reason we don't have these things today is because of the effect of sin on us. We all sin, therefore we all are going to die (the wages of sin is death). Jesus paid for our sins for us so that if we believe in Him we can go to heaven instead of going to hell.
Anytime anyone is beat up, curses, gets in a car wreck, cuts themselves on something, gets sick, etc.. IT IS ALL BECAUSE OF THE DEVIL. All because of sin (not sin in our lives necessarily, but sin in general). In a perfect world, no one would kill another person, no one would get sick, no one would lose their eyesight, no one would be overweight.. God didn't create us to be this way, it's Satan that has made us all this way..

That's not the point. Satan turned against God, and his authority, Just as if you obey your parents. you get cast out from their sight, until you learned you lesson. Or until you decide to obey what they ask you to do. Think about it, have you ever disobeyed your parents? And what was your punishment for it? Whatever they punished, you for, or for whatever the reason being. you didn't listen, or didn't do what you was supposed to do. common sense can tell you that.

Well he helped God kill 10 in the Bible. But next to God's 2.2 million that is pretty small potatoes. I think his real thing was questioning God's powers. The God of the Old Testament was quite a tyrant you know and that would have really pissed him off.

He was arrogant, prideful, and thought he could be higher than God. Satan will never be higher than God.
And it is because of Satan that DEATH entered into the world.

"just the incident with god" LOL You have a real talent for understatement...
Yes, Satan has murdered and he has raped. Do you think people who do those things do them out of the goodness of their hearts?
EDIT: No, I didn't mean that he was solely responsible. However, most people WOULD agree with me that Satan's influence is seen in actions such as murder and rape. (Of course, I think you knew perfectly well what I meant... ;-) )

I think Satan is more of just a Scapegoat for Christians. That way, whenever they do something evil, they can just say Satan tricked them.
