What is the last day a charitable contribution is allowed to be made to count as a deduction on a person's 2006 taxes?

You can only claim a deduction for expenses made during the Tax year with the tax year ending on Dec 31,2006

December 31, 2006 is the last day for charitable contributions.

You might be confusing this with the rule for IRA's, you have up to April 15, 2007 to contribute to your IRA for 2006.

An exception was made for 2004 as the Indian ocean Tsunami hit very late in the year so they extended donations for the Tsusami only until 1/31/2005.

always December 31, but I kind of recall an extension last year
or the year before when a hurricane or tsunami hit and the government extended the date to deduct donations and perhaps you could be thinking of that. so unless something unusual like that happens then it is always Dec.31.
