hahaha! thats kinda funny.
but i think it depends on how u look at it:
~the illiterate person can still eat and enjoy the taste of the soup. and since they are illterate and don't realize that the weird shapes are letters then there would be no known loss.

Yes. After they swallow it they digest it (digest meaning - bring into handy form by sorting, tabulating, summarizing, reflect on, absorb) and they are no longer illiterate. They know everything the alphabet can tell them.

Yep, now when the alphabet soup has words in it, then there's a problem.
But loose letters is no problem.

No, but we can actually understand how they feel, when we see all of those letters floating around in there and not knowing what they're trying to say to us.
