I want to try it but can't afford it, and I thought I might prepare some of the dishes at home myself, but have no idea about the foods that you get, the types, and the portions. Does anyone know, and do you think it works?

I did Jenny Craig for almost a month before I simply could not force myself to eat it anymore, it was really pretty terrible.
Limit your calorie intake to 1200 a day, you can find many lists of foods and calorie content on line, just use google. Go for a thirty minute walk everyday. You will see the weight drop off.
