I read an Ortodox saint , and he said that he lived like in hell .Actually he lived a state of mind of hell, being tempted by satan .But Jesus advised them to endure it heroically.

No one could live if he goes to the real hell, I guess, only the saints perhaps. The saints also saw the demons tempting people and described what they saw.e.g..while being unseen , the demons were shouting things around a man who was walking on the way of sin.
The sin seems to be nice here, but look, e.g.a cheaten person has depression which is a kind of state of hell, so the sinner deserves the hell for cheating her if he doesn't repent ask, and correct his behaviour...and ask forgiveness from God etc.
This saint also saw an angel crying(angels looks like men,but more handsome). The angel was crying in the street near a whorehouse (a house where they got sexual plasures). The angel said that he cries because a man was there. And the angel was that man's guardian angel.

Also that saint saw how the demons make people arguing, fighting one another(in words etc ), the demons were speaking in the people's ears and made them arguing , and fight each other.

Besides I have read in a magazine that if a soldier was asked , the soldier answers ''I 'd rather go to hell, then in Vietnam''
So it results the war is something that reminds of hell.Perhaps because they know that they could die in the next second, and they live a sad reallity -of killing, destroying, etc in order to find a solution. And God said''You shall not kill'', and it is obviously that we must find other ways of understanding then war which war means killing.

I think that by the end of life , many of us live a little bit of hell, although we are still on the Earth. The saints theologists said that we must fear (of)hell, so we can reject the sin and stay far away from hell. Those who fear hell , they probably understand better the consequences of sin. how sin affects your own life (pure life is like God's life)and how your sin affects people 's life.
E.g. I heard in Bible is written that the one who hates the other is a killer.Maybe being hated is like hell.

Besides have you heard a song saying :''And I miss you like hell''?So don't let her miss you, once you told her you love her.

They didn't go there but, the children from the Fatima visions were shown a vision of Hell and it upset them so much they started immediately doing Penance for people so it would be easier for them to convert, The littlest one got sick and even died because of how stringently she stuck to her regiment. She could not be swayed from it, so horrible were the visions. They are all three going to be Saints in the Catholic Church. Sr. Lucia just died not too long ago, right around the time Pope John Paul II died

My job doing hemodialysis. I just left & my life changed as I got a job for the insurance company.
You can go to hell & stay as long as you wish, but once you declare you had enough you can create heaven.

No one has, no one has ever been dead and returned. If you mean NDEs, I have some interesting tales, but I'm afraid they don't match up with your religion, they match with Norse mythology.

I have been to Hell, Michigan though. ;-)
