How do we know you're not trying to open a lock that you do not have the authority to unlock?

you can search youtube, search for tutirials on the web.

but honestly if the lock is not attached to anything chuck it in the trash, it will be cheaper to replace with an new model than to have an locksmith figure out the combonation for you. wheather you have to cut the lock off of somthing or not just buy an new lock (around $4 for an decent model).

as a locksmith I would advice the following, first free up the lock by oiling it. If you have the code on the back then take your time and jiggle the hasp after each number correctly found. if you do not the right code then you will need a locksmith
