Is he going to college after high school? If so take him on a field trip to a state college and at least one major university. Call and set up an appointment to speak with the college counselers there to discuss life after high school. Often senioritis sets in bad when has lost focus. Also remind him that after high school he won't have the free gravy train anymore (work or school...and your serious!) Remind him that he can do what he wants in his own apartment on his own time. Also I know you've already gone the "If you fail your exams" route. Get him scheduled for a quick placement test at one of the colleges...if he scores high, it's you that's panicking prematurely..if he scores low...you've made your point clearly!!!

well am not a mom but I went through this my last year of school. I didnt want to study or do my papers and just wanted to have fun. Yelling at him is only going to make it worse though. He's probaly freaking out a little, try to remember when it was you going through this, and am sure you did, everyone is scared and has a hard time with coping, hes leaving highschool and am guessing going into college were he has to get ready for his 'real' life. He has something that he knows clams him and that he's good at, playing games, yeah its not that good of a call but remember he is still a kid and mistakes will happen. Talk to him about when you graduated school how you were scared but unlike him you didnt have to take the test he dose and you just want to see him do as great as you know he can, then ask him if he would like help or if promise him something really grand if he dose well. Hope this helps. But dont show him that your getting angry about him not studying that will make it worse am sure.

Here, let me talk to him:
I am a senior in high school, too. Right now, this is the most important time in your life. If you mess up, everything you have worked for up to this point might be ruined. They should really take away the game if its ruining your focus. You need to understand that in order to succeed, first you need to make a few steps in the right direction. I play video games, too. I get anxious to finish them, too. Sometimes I do play them instead of doing my homework. Mistake! Right now you need to study. You can always play the game, it won't go away, disappear, vanish, break. . .Please listen to me and understand that you only need to study a little more, and then you will be done with high school. . .now good luck with those tests! :)

You poor factor. those all and sundry is probable no longer attempting to smash your experience, they're merely extremely disorganized and ruining issues for you is a facet effect. here is what i think of: Grad college for musicians is the place a lot of human beings spend the enormous dollars and decide for the suited experience they are able to get. once you're finding to enhance by using grad college, you may desire to %. a superb college that runs itself properly. i do no longer recognize the place you're, yet whilst the remedy you're turning out to be is generic, then you definately could desire to get out. I have been given my Masters to fill a call for today, so I did it on line. as quickly as I come to a determination to get yet another one (and that i desire to), and that i'm able to take my time, i visit get it someplace useful. It seems such as you may desire to locate yet another college. one that is administered extra effectively, and one that can tournament your contemporary expertise. Your inner maximum studio could have undergrads in it, yet your courses could desire to be for graduates in basic terms. while you're merely before all and sundry else to the element the place you do no longer recognize the place you would be palced for the opera, then you definately could desire to depart. in case you have chanced on which you're one among those enormous fish in one among those small pond this early interior the 12 months, that isn't a superb sign.

I think he has Senior-itis. I have an 18 year old son with the same disease. All we can do at this point is hope that they come through.

If he doesn't get it by now, the end of his senior year, nothing you can say will help. Maybe you could bribe him to get good grades, but then again maybe he is holding out for the bribe.
