Well, my question is I guess, is how much do most Adoption's cost? I know.. A lot. But I just wanted a number. And, is it more expensive to do an adoption that you take the baby right after it is born? I know you can adopt newborns up to toddlers. and even older. But. We didn't think that we would have to even think about adoption... but it looks like we just might have to. Also. If any of you have had to adopt, how do you get over the fact that you can not carry a child of your own? I mean, I sort of known that I wouldn't be able to for almost a 8 months.. and it is still very hard for both me and my husband. Oh and one more thing, what do they look for in adoptive parents?

Thanks for your time and answers.

I've been where you are! The first thing you need to do is to "grieve" the loss of pregnancy. That sounds crazy, but it's true. Most people don't understand how depressing it can be to realize that you will not carry a child. To this day, I still find myself feeling a bit selfish and sad when a friend announces she is pregnant or I'm invited to a baby shower. It does get easier with time, but I don't believe it is something you ever completely get over.

Secondly, adoptions vary in cost among agencies and the types of adoption you choose. International adoption is much more expensive than US adoption, but from what I hear, it is sometimes much easier to adopt Internationally than within the states.

If you are concerned about the cost of an adoption, I would consider looking to your local foster care program. Many children can be adopted through foster care. Even if you contact a local adoption agency, most of them have counselors who can help you to decide what is the best route for you to take. Remember....adoption is a journey. There will be rough roads at times, but it is worth everything when you finally get to hold your child.

Keep smiling and know that you are not alone!

Adoptions can cost thousands of dollars, it depends on the age you want and where your adopting from.

As you get lower in age the price gets higher, it is very expensive to adopt a baby from the US and same goes for another country but in other countries such as Africa it is less then the US and you can get a baby faster.

Most Americans who adopt kids want kids from the US and want newborns so it is a very high demand and you would be waiting on a list for a few years where with somewhere such as Africa it will take less time to get a baby.

The cost to adopt cost anywhere from $50,000 to $500,000.

When a mother is looking for someone to adopt there baby they are looking for people who have a good financial background who are loving and have a good family that all get along. Most mothers look for couples that are unable to have children.

In oder to get a baby right after is is born you would have to do one of those adoptions where the mother lives with you or you pay for the mothers medical bills or a place for her to stay and stuff like that and you get to be there when the baby is born and should be able to take the baby home from the hospital...

If you go through your local health and human services it's free! You might not get a new born and most are a little older...and some still have rights as their parents parental rights have yet to be terminated...but that is an option! We are doing that, we got a 4 year old right off the bat and we are going to be able to adopt him sometime this year. We also have an 8 month old, whose looking the same way! Yes, it's harder than getting a baby right out of the hospital, but we didn't have to wait either.!
