At school we were going into science.
The class was getting their science books as I asked If this class was boring...because other people had said it was.Jokingly...of course.I didnt mean it in a rude way.and he said it was a bad impression of me.Later he had to talk to me and tell me It was disrespectful and rude and innapropriate to say such a thing. He had asked me If I had friends and then asked me if I talked to them like that.I said yes...I was unsure of his question. He said he'd give me another chance.Im in the 7th grade.
Do you think It was disrespectful...should I have said it??

If he thought it was disrespectful, the best thing you could do now, is just apologize to him, and your class. You do not want to be known as disrespectable, throughout your years in school. You will feel much better about yourself, after you do apologize to your teacher, and your classmates. It is the right thing to do, rather you think you were or not. He is the teacher, and you should try and stay on the good side of him..Good Luck..

You did not say who "he" is. I was assuming it was the teacher. And yes, that was rude, and it was disrepectful to the teacher, even if he/she is not the one who overheard you.
Even if you said it to another student, it was still not nice. And comments like that can set the mood for the class, and give you the reputation for being a "downer", or the one who always seems to find fault with everything. The ones who are there in the class because they want to be generally roll their eyes and groan when they hear questions like that. They are thinking, "here we go again, another class where the teacher has to take time out from teaching to give time to someone who does not want to be here."
I hope you apologized to whoever "he" is, and I hope you will be getting serious about science. It was a fun class for me, and I took science classes all through high school and college because of what I learned in junior high science. I was an English major.
If you really wanted to know what the class was like, and walking into it was a little late to be finding out, should have just asked. How is this class, what is expected here?

That was NOT rude at all! This person has some issues. If they are THAT sensitive over a small joke they have no sense of humor. He will give YOU another chance?? If it was a classmate then no, the other way around. If it was a teacher he has to be more mature and lighten up a bit. You said nothing wrong. If I was there I'd laugh and probably agree with you. Good luck!!

You said this to the teacher? If so, then it's disrespectful. You should have learned by now to respect your elders - especially teachers and others in authority.

Imagine if you were throwing a party and, when handing out an invitation, someone asked you if the party was going to be boring because everyone says your parties are boring. Are you honestly going to say that you wouldn't be insulted?

I think your teacher is unbelievably immature. As an adult, I expect 7th graders to make statements such as yours. Since I know what my intentions are and what my value is with regard to any job I'm doing, such as teaching science, I do not concern myself with your remarks about it. This adult has attacked you in an attempt to retaliate against you because he doesn't know his own value and he doubts it. His attack on you should be of far more interest to the school than your implication that the study of science could be boring. I think he wants respect in advance of earning it, and at this rate, he won't earn any. Someone please email him this answer. When a challenge makes you go after someone else's self esteem, then within yourself, you agree with the challenger.

If it is as you said, I can't help but think he's a bit over sensitive. Personally, I would have said something like: Come and find out!. Maybe there's a reason why his class is said to be boring!
I wouldn't worry too much. Remember: you need your education for your career. Don't let one bombastic teacher steal your education!

It was rude, it's acceptable in the teenage world but in the world of adults you should judge something first hand and your remark could seem quite sarcastic

I am assuming it was the teacher who said this. Well, he should just get over it. it was a joke. You could have told him that you were sorry and that it was a joke.

You already know the answer to that. You are just looking to us to make it OK. It's not OK, anymore than someone saying to you"Have you always been that ugly?"
