My very own version of trail mix. I put together in a large bowl pretzels, dried cranberries, various nuts such as walnuts, cashews unsalted, almonds what ever I have on hand but, never all at the same time. I also add chocolate chips or white chips. I transfer it to an airtight container. I put snack size baggie full in everyones lunches and 1 extra if I or another family member has activities after work or school so it will tied them over till they get home.
This snack is great because it will keep your energy up and you get the best of everything salty, tart, sweet and protein from the nuts.

We like veggie chips or raw veggies dipped in salsa, hummus, or cocktail sauce. We also make homemade raw food bars that are great for snacks. I just grind up my favorite nuts and seeds, dates, coconut flakes, agave nector and cocoa powder in a food processor, roll it up in wax paper, (like the roll cookies you slice and bake) and dry them in my food dehydrator until they are the texture I want (you can get used deyhdrators at most thrift shops for just a couple of dollars) We also like "ants on a log" which are stalks of celery spread with almond butter or cream cheese with raisins on top. Also, if you hollow out a cucumber and stuff it with pimento cheese (I make homemade cheese, cause the storebought stuff is loaded with artificial stuff) or seasoned cream cheese, then slice it, it makes a tasty snack. Kids love things they can dunk, so healthy dressing and dippers should help them enjoy their food. Apples or pears dunked in almond butter are tasty. Make some fruit skewers, with small wooden sticks (careful with little ones and the eyes) with grapes, fresh pineapple, etc. with yogurt dip to dunk. I hope this gave you some ideas

Other than my favorite fresh fruit (which usually changes by week) I like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich made with whole wheat bread, Smart Balance Omega-3 peanut butter, and Smuckers Simply Fruit jelly.

Apples. I especially love the Golden Delicious variety. An apple a day keeps the doctor away!

banana bread w/ spenda (instead of sugar), mini whole wheat bagels topped w/ pizza sauce and low fat cheese melt in over @ 350 for 8-10 min., pickle roll ups (pickle rolled in ham spread w/ low fat cream cheese), popcorn topped with your favorite seasoning instead of butter (try italian herbs or parm cheese), if all else fails try sunflower seeds w/ or w/out the shell. Hope this helps you.
