I was in a relationship with a traveller and it wasn't a great relation ship, now I have a new man and I've been with him for 8 weeks, I really want it to work, for I've never been in a happy relationship before, how can I keep this relationship?

best way to keep a relationship healthy and working -
1) honesty and trust - dont hide things from him, dont stretch the truth, dont lie to him, always be up front with how you feel if something is bothering you
2) respect - if you dont respect him, he wont respect you, and then its never going to work. this means, dont use him, dont take advantage of him, dont pull him down about the past, and love/like him for who HE is, dont change who he is to suit you, if you are, then you dont relaly like him. AND respect for yourself, if you dont respect yourself, your body etc how is anyone else going to see you for who you are?
3) loyalty - dont cheat on him, dont do things behind his back even if you think its okay, if he has a problem with it so should you. no i dont mean be some submissive door mat in the relationship but be loyal. make sure he knows that your going to support him, encourage him through whatever hes going through, that you'll stick by his side and be there for him through thick & thin.
4) communication - if you are hurt, upset or anoyed at him he needs to know. you need to talk to him about how something made you feel or how stressed out you are at work or home. if your not going to talk to him about personal things and be open with him, dont count on him being open with you either
5) Resolving arguments (assertiveness) - if you two have a big fight about something, make sure you resolve it beofre you go to sleep that night. when you two are arguing make sure both sides are heard out, that you dont interrupt and you listen to his side of the story before you make assumptions or pass the blame. assertiveness is necessary as you shouldnt be a doormat, but you cant afford to be aggressive either, try to stay calm in arguments and resolve it to the best you both can.

good luck, im sure at the time of your previous relationships you were happy.. dont pull yourself down for no reason, just try your best with the relationship im sure this new guy is something to rave on about and so far ur 8 weeks has been great, obviously otherwise you wouldnt be so scared in losing your new found happiness!

Relationships are work after you've been together for five or six years. But 8 weeks is still pretty new, and it shouldn't be hard to keep things working after such a short time. That's usually a sign that you two aren't compatible. Don't keep it going if you don't feel that chemistry because you deserve more.

However, my best advice for you in the future is to never stop dating. Keep that original spark alive by having your boyfriend/husband pick you up for dates. Go out to dinner, movie, beach, etc. Something that's kind of cheesy but romantic, and it will keep things new.

you have no control over whether or not this relationship will work or not! you shouldn't have to work at a relationship. it either works or it doesn't! just make sure you're both honest with each other from the start and communicate! go with the flow!

Don't try too hard to keep it. Just let things happen. If they work out fine, if not oh well. You learn from each failed relationship, and bring something different to each new relationships.

Make sure you are honest with each other and that you are also friends in your relationship. Most of my relationships ended because we stopped being friends.
