I want to get healthier. I want to live and seem my kids get married and all that stuff. I also want to live a life they can model themselves. I do not work out and I have issues with food. Yes, I am fat. I do not want to be. I am working and struggling with this everyday. I always plan to get up and do SOMETHING that will be considered exercise, but then I don't. What are things that you do to help motivate you on the days you really don't want to do it.

I noticed that the more I think about it, the harder it is for me to exercise. The trick for me is to just get up and do it. Set a time every day where you exercise. Make it a daily habit. Just get up and go--don't even think about it. This makes it a lot easier for me. I am a naturally pretty lazy person and I could sit on my butt for hours if I had the time. So to make myself exercise, I just push myself out of the chair every day at 8:30 pm and GO. Some days it is harder, but if I skip a day or make an excuse or put it off for "5 minutes later..." then I never get around to it. There is no secret--the key is just to DO IT.

Some people get motivation by looking at skinny pictures of themselves or others. However, looking at pictures and stuff only discourages or distracts me. So I don't know, maybe it will work for you, maybe it won't.

You sound like you already have motivation, now you just need an action plan. I used to be bulimic, so that's my biggest motivation. Food is no longer my enemy. Just remember that every time you eat something you shouldn't, or you don't exercise when you should, that your kids are watching. Try involving your kids...take them to the park or play with them in the backyard. Make food fun, too...make colourful fruit salads or fuit sishkabobs. But remember that the change has to come from you...and if you are really struggling, it could be that you have an eating disorder. You might want to consider counselling or therapy...eating disorders can destroy your life and your children's. The best of luck to you!

I always feel better after I exercise, physically and mentally. Remind yourself of all the benefits and keep thinking about the day you get to see your kids get married and have kids of their own. There are so many illnesses that arise from not taking care of yourself that can decrease the quality and quantity of your life (my father who is young had diabetes and has had a heart attack). I don't know how much longer he will be around and that scares me. I want to be here for a long time for my kids, as you do too. That sounds like motivation to me.

Now you just have to carve out time for yourself. I have a treadmill in our family room and two young kids. I let them watch cartoons int he same room and I run/walk 2-2 1/2 miles every other day. On other days I do dumb bell weights. Sometimes they join me with Yoga videos. And of course when the weather is nice we do walks all together.

Just remember how important it is to you and then just do it!! Think of how much better you will feel about yourself when you do it.

start with really little goals..i woudl love to give you a good answer, but i dont have time right now..

check out a book by dr phil and work it - Self Matters or his weight loss one

by little goals - i was morbidly obese and barely mobile - my start goals was 200 steps a day .. time went on and slowly i added more and more steps.... now i easily do 15000 steps some days.... i dont care how little and insignificant. - just make the goal AND DO IT.. and always, REWARD yourself for success.... if youdo fail, ask yourself why....then ask yourself how you feel about it. live thru this feeling...truly hate yourself for the moment and wish you had not fuct up.. write down yr feelings to help as a reminder... then let it go - do not stay in the 'i suck' phase........ but use it to remind you of how you feel when you dont;' compelte your goal

What motivate me was what I saw in the mirror and said that not my body. Since then I been kicking butt at the gym running, lifting weight and do some aerobic or Pilate's class

just think of your kids. you want to be there w/ them, and plan ahead. if you want to skip a day, you can. but you would have to do 2 x the work to lose weight another day. i would just get my butt off of the couch and work if i was trying to work out.

I do it to enhance the rest of my life. I like to chase my kids without running out of breath, I like to look good, I like to do things and eat what I want without having to worry about it.
