I was with them for two years. Never did I pay late, and paid off balances before. But this one time I was late, they doubled my APR to 29.99% and have no plans on reverting it back to its norm. I have asked several times, but every single time they reject my request. I have other credit cards such as American Express, Capial One and Citi. I was livid, so I researched a little to find out how credit card companies do their work, and it comes down to only CHASE being the only company that does not bend a little for their good customers. Have you ever had any bad experiences with Chase? From this experience, I vow never to do business with Chase. Anyone wants to join in?

Chase is terrible to work with unless you are working with their mortgage division which is great mostly because they have automated most of the systems and you do not have to talk with them.

You are not the only person who is banding against Chase.

From my experience, Capital One is just as bad, and probably far worse, than Chase. Capital One does review credit checks on most of their clients MONTHLY! Missing one payment to Chase can trigger a default rate with Capital One!!! How scary is that?

But I have seen Chase act in bad faith before too. One example: On a card that had been active for over 20 years, but was rarely if ever used. The minute we charged a significant balance on the account, they ramped the rate up. For absolutely no reason other than that they could. And it took a ridiculous amount of pressure to get them to put the rate back where it was. Literally, an account with over 20 years of perfect payment history, not one late payment of any kind, ever. It was like they were waiting for the balance to get used, then use their contractual ability (which all cards have) to change the rates and terms at their discretion. And we were only at about 60% of the credit limit.

I feel your pain.

I have Chase as my mortgage company and they have been excellent with me. But I have had several friends and family members who use Chase for banking purposes and said that their customer service is terrible. When ever I have to call the Mortgage department I get right through to a person and have any and all issues taken care of. I am sorry you are going through this, but most banks in regards to Credit are terrible with customer service and procedures. I hope you find some light through this mess & good luck to you!

They did the same to me.I had maintened a balance ,never was late for 9 years. They upped my rate to 29.99% because I had always had a balance(so I was told) I did a balance transfer the next day on a 0% interest for 1 year on another Bank card.I had a mortgage with them and had a great locked in rate with my last house, but I would not use a credit card with them ever again.

I think you get that with every credit card.

I just wrote letters to Washington Mutual and they agreed to lower my interest rate from 23 to 14, that lasted one month and then the next month after that they raised it to 28 for no reason.

I think instead of asking if Chase is a bad company, maybe you should ask if there is any credit company that is GOOD.

Of course. Currently, one of my credit cards merged with Chase and first of all, their customer service is rude. Last months bill was earlier then the expected due date, so I called up somebody to extend my due date. He thought that I didn't want to pay on time. bullshit. He didn't understood a word I said. Also, their interest rates are too high. Everytime I make a payment, the balance doesn't drop. I can't wait to finish this one so I can say goodbye to it.

I use Chase for our business. I do not like them. We are considering changing banks at this time.

I have had only bad experiences with Chase. The hell with them. Move your account, and tell them why.
