Running is one of many great exercises for your legs. There are also many weight involved workouts that you could do in a gym to improve your running abilities. The reason that running is such a big deal is because it does so much more for you than exercise your legs. I do recommend running because not only will it give you that leg strength you need, It will improve your overall health and fitness.

Running is one of the best exercises. You can try doing some plyometrics, but it should only be under the supervision of a trainer due to the high risk of injury involved.
Weight training (squats, leg presses, extensions, and curls)
Stretch band training is good.
Walk, jog, run, and sprint is one of my favorites to enhance leg strength because of the variety and using all of your body's energy sources.
Knowing about the type of tests should help you prepare also.

Running will definitely make your legs stronger, but I would also supplement running with some leg squats. Use some 2-3 pound hand weights when doing the squats.
This particular one should help with your leg strength while running:

I hope this helps you!

NO..Running is great for a lot of things, but if you want to gain strength, you want to do Squats and leg presses..or you could get leg weight and walk all over the place with them...
Good luck

see this is the problem, your caliphs are the hardest place to add mass, ruining can help build up muscle a little bit but what you really should do are sit downs, like you place the bar up on your shoulder, have someone add weight, and then squat. try to go for 2 sets of 10 reps.

Walking is best. If you have a test coming up soon, it is too late to improve but you should still execise regularly.
Squats, leg curls, hamstring curls, toe lifts, toe raises, adductor presses and abductor presses will get you legs stronger.
Running and walking will condition and tone them but not produce too much more strength. They will help build endurance.
