It is normal to be sore if you are not used to exercise, or are doing something different. The soreness is actually micro tears in the muscles. Keep exercising, stretch before and after workouts, warm up and cool down. This will not continue after you are acclimated to the training.

I started an exercise program in January and I remember the first day after I thought I was going to die. I hurt all over and could barely walk up and down the stairs. I took it easy the next couple of days and then went back to the gym and worked out another muscle group (legs, arms, back, etc ). I survived and now I know my limits. I still get sore after a hard workout but it is not nearly as bad- it almost feels good :). I have lost 15 pounds and I am still dropping. I would play it safe for a couple of days and you should be fine. If the pain does not go away in a week you need to go see a dr just to make sure you didn't pull a muscle or something. Good Luck!!!

PS: Don't forget to stretch!!!!!!!

You may have overexerted yourself...typically you aren't sore after the 1st day. Try to pace yourself you don't want to stop before you began....ok. I use to do the same thing and after I stop and really didn't begin working out again over 3 months...I took it slower the next go around.

Yes, it's normal. It's called DOMS, delayed onset muscle soreness. But the soreness will become less intense as you progress with your exercises.

It is totally normal, but maybe next time, do some stretches before you start your exercise to reduce soreness.

its normal to feel that way...

i still remember the first day of my gym workout. the workout is fine but after the training...i was like always shaking when i lift my arms. i couldn't even lift my food tray for 5 secs! hahaha!

i think that means your muscles are stretched and contracted. give it a good rest then everything would be normal.☺

reward your self for workout or, if that doesen't paintings, shield an exercising log. Having to make sure "confident" or "no" on the tip of the day will make you exercising extra in many situations. solid luck :)
