This guy from Y!A (something like Scott or whatever)...keeps e-mailing me because he disagreed with one of my posts. In his e-mail, he whines and complains, he states he is college educated and smarter than I am (you should see his spelling/grammar, but that's a whole new thing...), and practically begs me to think like he does and that only smart people believe in the bible, and on and on, ad nauseum.
Why do christians do that? Is it low self-esteem?
Why do they think they need me to run blindly into their cult belief? Why does this guy whine so much, and practiclly beg me to think like he does? And, why do so much of his e-mails contain insults -- is that a christian thing to do, too? Is that what they think christ asks his followers to do? "Go forth and insult people, and when that doesn't work, go forth and whine like a little school-girl who got her pig-tails yanked at recess"?
Honestly, I read his e-mails, and people like that amaze and baffle me. Any insights?

"On the one hand you are talking about one guy named Scott, and on the other hand you ask why "Christians" (plural) do that."
Wow, sorry for only having so much space to print the question. "Scott" isn't the first -- far from it. He is simply the most recent of many of these types of people who behave in this manner.
I thought most people would be bright enough to pick that up -- once again, I expected too much... Does that explanation help?
Cheers!

It's one of the reasons I don't accept email via Y!A.
I think it is part of the basic psychology of some christians. Often fundamentalists (who believe in a literal bible) are also evangelicals (who believe in converting people). I think it is due to the tenuous nature of their belief.
These people have a belief structure that requires them to accept things that normal people would find absurd. Being able to convince you (or someone else) to accept their beliefs reaffirms that they aren't totally divorced from reality.
I know that I came from a liberal christian background and I never encountered people who wanted me to acknowledge their beliefs. Instead, they were ready to tolerate my beliefs as long as I tolerated theirs.

I get those too along with the ones telling me how much of a sinner I am and that I'll go to hell, etc. But I also get really nice emails from Christians. In fact, I got two this morning from a very nice guy! I am hoping the good outweighs the bad.

Ok. I guess all Christians are whiny people who send emails. So the atheists on here that have begged me to stop believing in fairy tales and start believing in evolution are really Christians? Oh and the Muslims who have emailed me and one that even accused me of stalking and cloning her (although she did realize her mistake and apologized), are they really Christians too? Isn't it possible that some people are just a little more aggressive in their beliefs and don't know when to back off, regardless of what they believe? Ignore them.
May God Bless you.

Well, I don't have a PhD, but I suspect my maths might be better than yours, based on your comment. On the one hand you are talking about one guy named Scott, and on the other hand you ask why "Christians" (plural) do that.
It's as if some non-Christian did something silly (I guess some do sometimes?) and I started asking why non-Christians tend to do that. If you have an issue with this guy Scott, you should probably settle it with him, and not try to get all Christians with that. (Do you take the same tack with races, cultures, and other religions, when one person acts stupid?)

I am an Ortodox Christian. I don't beg you to think like me , but I tell you that in the first commandement , God orders you :''You shall not have other gods before Me!''
So perhaps real Christians are those who do what Jesus asked them -Give their life for another. (besides other gifts)
So I don't beg you to think like me but I want to remind you to be right , and love your wife the way you love yourself.
See you.

You make a generalized statement about a group of people because of the influence of one???????????
You are a rather bias person..stop casting stones and look at your own flaws first

I never do that. It disgusts me. People should do what is right for them. Scott - or whatever his name is - needs to back off.

Did you yank his pig-tails...lol
Seriously, not all Christians are like that. In my opinion he has a miss-guided desire to rescue you from yourself.

I don't know why he would. I am a christian and I certainly would never beg people like you to belive what I do. You aren't that important me. People who don't belive in God are blinded. Dosen't mean they are dumb.

That's not true,
Okay to a point,
I'm in a discussion with someone, and that's what it is a disscussion. Not begging or converting, just two adults talking.
