You definately need to concentrate more on your studies. Just don't talk about martial arts at school. Your teacher should have told you that.

By your question it would suggest that you already know how to eliminate this reputation, but sometimes merely communicating to your friends or acquaintances that you don't mean to act "hard," and have no intention of being arrogant can solve the problem. As for the second question regarding low blows and fakes:

If someone attempts to kick/punch you below the waist simply raise up on of your legs and bring it across you body, like if you try to touch the left side of your waist with your right knee without using your hands. In the specific of a low-kick, you can always counter kick. That is kick them in their foot or leg before it gets to your body.
For fake-outs, specifically of the fake-punch to a kick variety, merely step back quickly. Practice the "fencing" step where you step in a direction with one leg, pushing off with the other with a little "hop" and then follow with the first leg again. When your opponents' kick misses, fence-step back into range and attack (punch, kick, push, head-lock, use your imagination). A fake-kick followed by a punch is much more difficult though. After you notice the fake kick immediately raise your arms to block your face because that is most likely where the punch will be headed. Then, again, follow-up with your own attack.

A fact is
As more die fighting for the US
Violence is being recognized as a main factor.
Laws are now in place to make you a Felon for simply harrassing or stalking a person for a fight. A reputation only makes a conviction in court easier.
A Friend of mine got 90 days for simply challenging another, and a court warning of a prison term.
I care less what anyone thinks, I live in America and as a Martial art have the right to own and possess firearms.
Makes us all even, and well It ends fights fast.
I would not even hesitate to KILL anyone I mean anyone I felt was a threat to me or my safety.
I Fear No Predator when I have a 120grain Martial Art

If I remember right, aren't you the person that taught ma class in front of the school? If that's the case, you pretty much blew anonymity out the window when you started that.

If you aren't that person, my apologies for the mess up. In that case, keep your mouth shut and don't broadcast it to everyone in school. If it "slipped" that you are into martial arts, maybe it was a Freudian slip. Isn't he the one that said there are no mistakes, everything is meant to happen? And no, I didn't study him so I am probably wrong. But, you understand what I am getting at.

Either way, have fun in school now.

really, if you already have a reputation, its too late to keep it low key at present. The best advice I could give you is to not make a big deal of it or talk about it and let it blow over, eventually poeple will get bored with idea and move on to something else.

It is often impossible to keep it quiet. Of course, not talking about it is one way to slow down the discovery that you practice, but once it is known the only thing you can do is be cool about it. Don't act bad. If someone says something about you or tries to start something, just let it go, don't react. You know your abilities, who cares what others think or say.

Don't fight,
Don't broadcast the fact that you take martial arts,
Be gentle,

Remember -- a martial art is WHAT YOU DO,
not WHO YOU ARE!
