What am i doing wrong in the wiring? Its a nissan Altima 96, so the origian radio had no ground wires, so where do i connect the ground wire coming from the new harness. And also i am left with two wires a green and red, with nothing to connect them with.

The ground wire can just go to a metal part up under the dash somewhere. Find a screw to hold the wire in place. Usually, a red or orange wire goes to an unswitched hot wire to supply constant power for the clock and memory presets. Another hot wire is ignition switched so the radio will turn off when you turn the key off. Most aftermarket radios have an extra wire for amp turn-on or to activate a power antenna. If your car has neither, you can just wrap that one up and not use it. The rest of the wires will be speaker wires. Check your instructions to see which wires go where and connect accordingly.

You didn't cut the original harness did you? You should purchase an installation harness that plugs directly into your factory harness, then you just wire the new connector to your aftermarket radio. As for needing a ground, any screw that goes into metal should do, just remove the screw and use some sand paper to make the metal show so you have a good ground.
