I have fibromyalgia and CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome).

It mostly effects my neck, shoulders and arms, causing numbness, tingling, weakness and the headaches from hell. If I have tried to do to much my back and legs are effected too.

Best thing I can tell you is to pace your self, do only what your physically able to do.
Learn as much as possible about Fibromyalgia, and pass on to family/friends and colleagues. So they have a better understanding of your condition.
Rest when you can, putting your feet up when sitting helps with leg pain.
Eat a healthy diet fresh fruit and veggies, drink plenty of water.
Avoid coffee and alcohol, can make the pain worse.
Have regular check ups, including blood tests (for some reason I have low vitamin A and D levels and also zinc)
Try to do a little walking each day, to stop muscle stiffness and loss. Be guided by your body if it hurts to much today don't do it.
Be careful when around someone who has the flu etc, as may knock you around a fair bit, and can take longer to recover.
Support groups are good it they offer support, friendship and information.
Ignore negative comments from ill informed people. (not always easy to do)

Good luck and feel free to contact me if you wish.

I've had fibromyalgia [FM] since I was born. You are born with gene and it stays dormant until you have a severe illness or get overly stressed out/burnout like with a overwhelming job. I had walking pneumonia, I was working in a high stress job, and one day I just couldn't move anymore in 4/94. I couldn't get out of bed, and I had certain muscle spots that were so tender that when my clothes touched them I would cry.
For a while I thought I had mono, but that was not the case. I was sick for a whole year before the Dr. determined that it was FM w/chronic fatigue [CHF]. It is common disease that is passed down through family lines. My grandmother had it and so does my aunt.

The symptoms are tender points near muscle joints and physical exhaustion comes easy. It can effect your fibrous tissues too. The things that it most effects with me is I tire easily, I always have a sore throat and earache, sometimes it is extremely hard for me to hold up my neck and my the back of my neck always hurts. The fibrous tissues around my lungs always burns and frequently experiences cramps. This also occurs in my lower legs and feet. I have large knots in my arm muscles that can be easily felt by others. There is nothing that I can take that will make it all go away. Liquid calcuim is what gives me the most relief. I drink calcuim1oz with 8oz of water before I go to bed when I am in severe pain. I drink at least 64ozs of water a day. Eat lots of alakline foods, I try to eat <30g of sugar, miminal salt, and take power naps between appointments or household chores. I am not able to work a regular job now. I don't qualify for SSI (you have to be very severe--like bedridden to get SSI w/FM-CHF). I've chosen to fight for as long as I can. It is common with family hx of diabeties, although not everyone that has FMCHF is diabetic.
It won't kill you but it can make you depressed enough to wish you were dead. You've got to fight every day. Don't ever give into the pain, keep active, you will overcome, and enjoy your life if you put God 1st,pray in Jesus' name I feel no pain, often, and eat healthy, drink lots of water, and do exercise every day (stretch ex., works best). Good luck.

Tons of people have it. One of my best friends has it. The best thing you can do for yourself is to get rid of all of your toxic cleaning and laundry products as many are registered pesticides. Replace them with all natural cleaners and laundry products and then take the old ones to your nearest toxic recycling place to dispose of them. Have someone come in and clean your house and shampoo the carpets and furniture with the new products and wash all your clothes in the new products. Be sure you are not drinking diet sodas unless they are made with splenda as Aspartame can be part of the cause of your aches and pains. Take a good antioxidant supplement as well as a good mulitvitamin that is well absorbed by your body. Use a ginger supplement to help with the pains and maybe a green tea to drink for the anti-inflammatory properties.
