At Mayo Clinic, you can show up and say "I'm not leaving until you find something wrong with me" and they will run tests to figure it out. My local hospital is not like that at all...
Is Mayo Clinic the only facility out there of its kind?

Virginia Mason in Seattle, Washington will also do a complete work up. Are you looking for something close to where you live? Because there is more than one Mayo Clinic. I know of one in Minnesota and one in Arizona; there could be more out there. There are also many teaching hospitals that I imagine would do the same thing.

Your doctor should be able to help with that. Even without a diagnosis, he or she should be able to recommend a hospital. When my mother was alive she had Parkinson's Disease. I thought about Virginia Mason or the Mayo Clinic. When we talked to her doctor he had heard many good things about a specialist in Oregon at the Oregon Health Sciences Hospital. I had never heard of it and it turned out they were doing a study on Parkinson's Disease and had neurologists there just working on Parkinson's patients. My nephew was born with a cleft lip and when he was about 12 my sister wanted to get a specialist in Plastic Surgery who may have some new ideas about surgery. We did a little research and found a hospital in North Carolina which was affiliated with a university.

I know it is a little harder when you do not have a diagnosis, but I am sure there are many hospitals out there that can help you.

Good luck to you.

No, there is the Cleveland Clinic, and Johns Hopkins hospitals; those are just 2 that I know of by name. Also, most large university hospitals are very good.

How about the UW hospital here in WI. They do lots of testing. Also if your hospital/doc won't continue to look for what is wrong then simply ask for a referral to a specialist. If the specialist won't help then ask him for a referal and keep asking until you get to a doc that will help you.
