Low self esteem isnt cause just by being dumped...its something you have deep within yourself...and being dumped just brought it out of you...you should probably go see a counselor to work on that...b/c if you dont you most likely won't be very happy.

Any rejection is gonna hurt your self esteem. Just distract yourself from your short-comings with something you are good at or focus on trying to repair your problems. Self esteem is a big deal and you should really focus on being happy. don't give anyone the importance of making you happy because that is easily taken away as you have found. Just go out with your buddies and have a good time.
The main thing to do is find something you are good at and take off with it don't just have a pity party.

It depends on a few key things;
1. the length of the relationship you are wounded from
2. the level of commitment you had
3. how long has the relationship been over
4. who ended the relationship
All those things seem trivial but if you haven't healed properly you will take the excess baggage and in turn act out your suppressed feelings of anger and hurt onto your next relationship. To heal fully can take anywhere from a week to many many years depending on your answers to the above questions. I wish you the best of luck

Your sel-esteem is regulated by YOU! No one can take it away unless you let it. If you still feel like something is wrong with you stay out of a new relationship.

I don't think you should fell bad about being dumped because maybe you weren't supposed to be with that person and just know its there loss and you can do better without them.

It can possibly last forever, if you permit it. Just don't let it happen. If you see yourself going into depression; get professional help! Otherwise just calk it up to experience and get on with your life.

this has multiple factors:
length/intensity of past relationship
who messed it up
and how you feel about yourself in general
PS: try to keep the baggage out of the new relationships
