Not only is it possible to govern people without god, it is vital that god not be involved with government. A secular government is absolutely necessary in order to preserve the personal freedoms of the people living under that government. In fact, the United States was set up as a secular government. If you read through the constitution, you will notice that no where in that great document is god even mentioned.
There are many examples of governments that are under direct control of the church, none of them particularly effective. A few of those examples off the top of my head include countries such as Afganistan, Iraq and Iran. Very few personal freedoms, the lives of the citizenry are dictated by scripture, and punishments for breaking the laws are severe. The particular religion involved is irrelevant, and our founding fathers knew that when they formed this nation. It's a shame that their decendants didn't pass that lesson down.

Yes.
Communist and non christian countries are being governed without the bible and Jesus Christ.
Most politicians do not have the moral standards to decide on most issues concerning the nation.

America was built upon hypocrisy so spare the " where has God gone speech" the church didn't even have enough moral standards to decided for the church or God.

What are you talking about? You really need to stop listening to the telefundies. Find out for yourself what this country was really founded on, it wasn't the Bible or Jesus Christ. Most of the founders believed in a god, but many did not believe in the Christian god.
Besides, some of the most corrupt in our government claim to be the most Christian.

It's not only possible, it's mandatory if we are to make any headway whatsoever in a dangerous and complicated world. Dogmatic platitudes are useless in the real world of policy and action.
And by the way, human values are reflected IN religion, not the other way around.

Of course. The US is officially a secular state. Moral codes do not arise from religion -- they obtain from evolution, which applies to societies as well as to species: a society which lives by a sound moral code will survive preferably to one that does not.

There must be a complete separation of church and state. No religion should be allowed influence in our government.

yeah politicians are corrupt, but they are also religious. and not just claiming, they genuinely believe it.
The greeks and romans did decent without christianity, all things considered. the japanese do it quite well. honestly, so many people can't get over our country not being christian, i think you should all get together and start a new cult/country, maybe down south. let me know how it works out.

Yes it is, due to the fact that the Bible is false, and Jesus is partially false.
Therefore we need to rise above all that. We need to become moral and logical and merciful and intelligent, and we need to be diligent. We need to get religion out of our schools.

Oh, I thought this was a question about oppression. I was going to say it is possible to oppress people without the Bible but it is far more difficult.
