Is there any way mold can grow behind wallpaper without water coming in from outside? I'm trying to sell my house and just discovered quite a large spot of this and am very nervous.

Yes, mold will grow wherever the conditions are right, irrespective of the source. Somehow, moisture got behind the wallpaper and through the drywall. It could be coming from behind the wall. Since your home is on the market, I suggest you kill the mold by wiping the area with a solution of bleach and water. If you want something that is less harsh and has no fumes, DampRid makes a non-toxic fume free mold & mildew remover and protector. You just spray it on, agitate and wipe off the mold/mildew. It also protects the surface from future mold growth as well. You can find it in the cleaning aisle at the Lowes home improvement stores.

Zinseers "Mildew & Mold" remover, spray it on and watch the mold and mildew disapper, cost around $6 a bottle very simple and I wish people would stop with the Kilz remedy, Kilz will only block the mildew stain and thats it, Kilz has hardly any mildewcide in it to prevent it from coming back if anything it loves to grow in it. Ask the Kilz site about mold & mildew. Good luck you've got an easy fix

that's very no longer likely. you might have been looking at a horror action picture! mold needs dampness to thrive so if something of the home is dry, it won't unfold. in case you be responsive to what the source of the undertaking is, and manage it, you will eliminate the dampness this mold needs. basically bypass to a DIY shop and purchase mold killer, which you paint on.

Spray it with bleach and let it dry. Do this several times. Be careful. Mold is very hazardous!

yes. my husband does remodeling for a living and they always wash the walls with bleach water and then using kilz paint on them or tearing them out if they are in bad shape.
