Well let's hope it's CROUTON, 'cos if it's CROTON OIL, don't put that in your food, as it's a strong purgative. I've got a potted Croton plant. Croutons are any variety of cubed stale bread, lightly tossed in Canola or Olive oil and maybe herbs, and/or Parmesan cheese, and roasted, spread on a baking tray, in the oven until crisp and golden. When cool, can then be stored in a sealed container for a few days, and even recrisped under the grill. They have many uses, but are good as a garnish floating on top of a bowl of hot or chilled soup.

It's crouton. A crouton is a small piece of bread fried on either side until it's crunchy. You should always use stale bread for this. It tastes great when added to soups or salads.

Serving suggestion: cut into heart shapes and dip the wide part into chopped parsley before serving. It looks beautiful!

Croutons are cubes of bread fried until crisp. They can also be roasted in the oven. Usually to accompany soup or as a garnish in salads.
