My nephew is on it. His dose seems way too high. Maybe, I'm being overly concerned. It's the liquid not the pills.

An adult taking the elixor? hat is strange.
The concentration is 12/120 per 5mL (teaspoon), meaning that every 5mL will contain 12mg Codeine and 120mg Acetaminophen. Maximum dose would be 60mg codeine every four to six hours, or 25mL. This is a big gulp of the elixor.

Elixir

Acetaminophen and codeine phosphate oral solution contains 120 mg of acetaminophen and 12 mg of codeine phosphate/5 ml and is given orally.

The usual doses are:

Children: 7 to 12 Years: 10 ml (2 teaspoonfuls) 3 or 4 times daily. 3 to 6 Years: 5 ml (1 teaspoonful) 3 or 4 times daily. Under 3 Years: Safe dosage has not been established.

Adults: 15 ml (1 tablespoonful) every 4 hours as needed.

above even for adult cause very drowsy
