Do you mean you're not sure how to propose or how to get married? Or do you mean you're not sure about the marriage? If you're just looking for general advice about how to have a good marriage, I can think of a few things to keep in mind for a start.

- Be kind. It sounds stupidly simple but a lot of people are nicer to someone they just met than they are to their spouse. Keep courteous.

- Be open. If something is bothering you, speak up rather than let it fester until it becomes a huge issue.

- Fight fair. Go to bed angry if you have to. If you are getting so mad that you've hit the name-calling, not-listening point, you need to take a break. Make an "appt" for a definite time when you can discuss your issue calmly and sensibly. When that time comes, don't point fingers or get defensive. Listen to the other side of the argument and state your side without hostility.

- Know your spouse before he/she becomes your spouse. A lot of future problems can be avoided if you discuss major life events beforehand (finances - spender vs. saver, kids, etc.). People do change over time but you should not marry someone expecting them to become someone else.

You can be married for life. Just make sure you know your mate WELL before getting married and if there are things you don't like/don't think you can live with then don't marry them. A lot of people their their other will change when they get married but that's not true!!! There is a great book called something like 500 questions you should ask before getting married. My husband and I got that and had a great time with it especailly on car trips. Also, I think people take divorce as an easy way out these days. Know that marriage is tough but after the bad times come really really good time!!! Remember its for better or worse!!!

Do not have children until you are sure you are going to have a long lasting relationship

Don't do it. You need to be a little more expressive to be married to some one.
