I recently went to the eye doctor, and he said this was the cause of my headaches when I'm reading.

Absolutely -- I have nearly lost all vision in my right eye, but can see fairly well with my left. Happens all the time. Glasses and contacts can sometimes help.

Yes, I don't have any citations for this, but I do know that a person can have different vision in each eye.

yep. i have something like that, only my left eye has astigmatism & it has worse vision than my right (20/40 i think L & 20/20 R)

Yes it is definitely possible. You may even be far sighted in one and near sighted in the other.
