I just saw a couple of answers that stated this. I am speechless. And the parents let them get away with this?

I am horrified and totally disgusted. These poor children are being lied to! Can anything be done to legally stop this child abuse?

Sometimes the best one can say when they encounter someone who wants to teach children creationism is "the world needs ditch diggers too, Danny".

And my child will have less competition for a good job someday...

Re: Enigma21 (below): please read a book on Evolution rather than spouting absurdities.

In some - yes.

In many, creation and evolution are both taught as theories. Scientific evidence is laid out without bias or comment - and students are allowed to decide for themselves. If they decide on evolution, and can back it up scientifically, they are given equal marks as if they had chosen creation. If they simply take creation as the "right" answer, they are docked points for blindly following the party line.

Now a comment to this responding question: I've seen news coverage - Children are still assaulted in public schools, why does your government sanction this cruelty?

In the 1300's people were taught in the public schools that the earth was FLAT! Oh my gosh! The heresy! The child abuse!

I'm not going to get into an argument with you about creationism vs. evolutionism. Your post makes it obvious that you are not a creationist, and I am. But I'm going to leave that alone.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, to be disgusted by what I might choose to have my children taught in a PRIVATE, CHRISTIAN school. However, I don't think you have the right to call it child abuse simply because you don't agree with my beliefs, any more than I have the right to call it child abuse if you decide to teach your children the theory of evolution or if you decide to teach them that we were all sneezed out of a being called the Great Green Arkleseizure and are now living in perpetual fear of a time called the Coming of the Great White Handkerchief.

The fact is, we live in a country that celebrates its diversity, respects the opinions of ALL as long as we do not infringe upon one another's rights. So, please...give me and my beliefs the same respect that I give you and your beliefs.

Thanks.

Only if something legally can be done to stop the abuse of teaching the theory of Evolution. In your lack of knowledge and thinking all children who are taught anything about the beginning of the world as we know it is abuse. There is nothing proven about the beginning of the world. Not everyone believes that man started as a slime in the water, evolved to a fish to a frog and eventually a lizard that crawled up a tree and became a monkey and jumped down a man. That is the biggest stupidest lie of a theory I have ever heard. And to think it is a standard of teaching in most public schools is downright disgusting. Thank God there is the Bible and there is church we can make sure our children learn the truth.

Yes it is and no you cant do anything about it.And what makes you so sure evolution is true? There are so many holes in it that even scientist of today are debunking it. Get a life and get educated. I am horrified and totally disgusted that children are being lied to about evolution. Its a theory but it should be knows as a big lie. Ever hear of thermodynamics? Read up on it and even if you dont agree with creationism you wont believe in evolution any longer. Its all scientific fact. Peace out.........

It depends on the school. And the parents who send their children there prefer this.

As horrified as you are that they are taught creationism as fact, is their reaction that public schools teach evolution as factual.

And not, North America has freedom of religion. You can not legally stop this.

You are quite funny. Totally disgusted? About what? Creationism is taught as a belief. Evolution should taught as a theory, like it is.

Did ever think about joining the Nazi party, you'd fit right in.

Yes, Creation is taught as fact in Christian schools.
Evolution is also taught as theory.
In a Christian school, the Bible is viewed as the truth. It shouldn't be surprising that Creation is taught as fact in that setting.

Yep, I know several kids (friends of my kids) who go to christian school (there is one about 2 blocks from my place). And they are taught creationism as fact. They don't teach evolution (even as theory) in that school. Parents have a choice to send their kids there or not, though. I choose not.

Some do. The religious school my brother will be sending his daughters to does. They downplay sciences entirely and I told them he would be doing serious harm to their education especially when they decided to go on to college.

In my state nothing can be done unless the children are unable to pass standardized testing and they give them just enough to do that.

Granted not all religious schools in my state are like that.. some are more like regular school with religious classes.
