How is the restaurant TAO. My girlfriend got promoted, I wanted to take her there. Is it any good? Is it expensive?

I've only eaten there once. I found the music much too loud - if you are planning to have a nice conversation with your girlfriend, this isn't the place to do it. The place is pretty, but the food is very overpriced and isn't all that good. Look at their menu and judge the prices for yourself.

There are so many great restaurants in New York. If you are going to splurge, Eleven Madison Park is excellent - they have a three course prix fixe for $76 and four course dinner for $88.

If you're looking for great Asian cusine, try Chinatown Brasserie on Great Jones and Lafayette. Really good Dim Sum. Upscale, too.

Tao is definitely overrated. While the food really is very good, it is SO loud you cannot even hear yourself think.
If you've never been, it's worth a go, but don't expect someplace intimate and romantic. It's more loud and trendy.

It's ny, everything is expensive. It's not out of sight, but not coffee shop prices. The place is great,, but noisy and food interesting. Worth a trip.
