Ever since 9/11 (Bless everyone) I am terrified of flying on a plane. I flew on one this summer for a family reunion, but I had several panic attacks on the way there, and back. I am going to see my boyfriend in Seattle (Where I am moving) from Tucson, and my psychiatrist prescribed me five 1mg Xanax. Has this helped anyone on a plane? Will it prevent my panic attacks?

yes a 1mg Xanax will help you with panic attacks. If you have never taken Xanax you may just feel relaxed and fall asleep. Try to stay calm and the medication should work fine. Good luck

I previously commuted between the Washington DC area and the San Francisco Bay area. Around 9/11, I was spending my weekdays on the West coast and my weekends on the East.

I was prescribed Xanax for anxiety (anxiety over dealing with bonehead security people on my way to the plane) and it worked well. There was a little rebound anxiety after the stuff wore off, but it wasn't a problem for me. I recommend avoiding major stressful situations during the period of time after it wears off. (8 to 24 hours after taking it)

It will help more with putting you to sleep more than anything. I guess that would help your flight anxiety seeing as though you wouldn't be awake to be anxious.
