I've been anemia since I was a teenager. I have very heavy periods that always lasts more than a week. I can tell why I've been anemia after seeing all the blood keep going out.

So I starts to take vitamins which includes iron enough and I've been always very careful to take, meaning I always eat full before take those vitamins but I get stomach ache all the time and don't know what to do.

I've been trying to get vitamins through foods but it doesn't work as efficient as planned since I'm vegan.

Is there any way to take vitamins that doesn't cause stomach aches? I found ester is very gentle to stomach but it's available for only vitaminC.

If there's any herbs or soething included iron, could anyone please tell me?

Thank you in advance to all!

I don't know how that one answerer thinks iron pills will solve stomach upset. They cause it! Ask any pregnant woman who is taking them. Natural sources of iron are far better because they do not cause side affects. Here are some suggestions that work-and this is based on personal experience.

I had low iron during my last pregnancy (below 10). When my midwife checked my iron shortly before my due date, it was over 13! This is how I did it.
ALFAFA-6 Tablets daily
BLACK STRAP MOLASSES- 1 Tablespoon on toast daily

Excerpts from The How to Herb Book
*The name alfalfa means "Father of all Foods." It has been called the King of plants because it is extremely rich in vitamins and minerals including IRON, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sulfur, chlorine, sodium, potassium, silicon, and trace elements.
*A good source of carotene (Vitamin A) and a little known vitamin –Vitamin K, the blood clotting vitamin which has been known to help peptic ulcers.
*Has eight of the essential amino acids and the highest chlorophyll content of any plant.
*Prevents tooth decay and helps rebuild decayed teeth, contains natural fluorides.

I buy my Alfalfa tablets from Walmart (300 count bottle for under $4)

*****CAFFEINE Most people do not know that CAFFEINE can decrease your body's absorption of iron. So if you drink a lot of caffeinated beverages or eat a lot of chocolate that could be affecting you big time.

Since you have problems with your period, I would suggest you take Red Raspberry (the tea with honey is very good). I have had friends and family that have had very good results with the regulation of their periods with Red Raspberry Tea.
(this is where I get mine http://www.bulkherbstore.com/RRLC)

Excerpts from The How the Herb Book
*Red Raspberry is used as a basic herbal foundation for all female organs and problems. It is in many female combinations.
*Strengthens wall of uterus and entire female reproductive system.
*Decreases profuse menstrual flow.
*Good during all months of pregnancy. Alleviates morning sickness and nausea. Has been used as a preventative for hemorrhaging during labor. Assists labor, makes delivery easier and relieves after pains. Tones and regulates before, during and after childbirth.
*Increases and enriches milk for lactation, can be combined with marshmallow tea.
*Raspberry tea is mild and pleasant to taste. It is good for stomachaches and bowel problems in children. For diarrhea in babies.
*Soothing to stomach and bowels and cankerous conditions of mucous membranes in the alimentary canal.
*High mineral and vitamin source. (including iron!)

http://www.bulkherbstore.com/ (This site also has Alfalfa Herb that you can make into a tea as well. Put it together with the Red Raspberry and it can be your "Healing Tea" combination! Drink it all day long! You can learn how to make herbal teas on this website as well. There is a lot of information here.

iron deficiency anemia is the most common form of anemia, but that may not be your problem. while this type of anemia can be exacerbated by heavy menstruation, it's cause is a lack of iron. taking an iron supplement may help, but can cause constipation and gas. vegans are susceptible to this type of anemia because they don't get enough iron in their diet. however, vegans can also suffer anemia from a lack of vitamin b-12 and folic acid. dietary issues aside, some people, for various reasons, have trouble absorbing iron, b-12, or folic acid. it's possible that the vitamin supplement may be causing your stomach aches, but it is also possible that a physical condition, such as crohns' disease, could be causing the pain. crohns' disease, by the way, also can cause anemia by preventing the body from absorbing b-12. just having a regular stomach ulcer can cause stomach pain and blood loss anemia. too much caffeine can interfere with iron absorption. too much fiber can cause stomach pain/gas and vegans tend to have more fiber in their diets than the average person. add to that the fact that a lot of vitamin supplements also have fiber, and that could be the problem. as far as a vitamin supplement that's easier on the stomach, i would ask where you're buying the vitamins from if they have any suggestions. read the label on the vitamins you have to see what exactly is in them. if you're taking vitamins prescribed by a doctor, ask the doc if they could be causing the pain and if there's anything that can be done about it. i can't think of anything besides red meat and milk that would be a natural form of iron. if you're sure that your stomach aches are caused by the vitamins, perhaps taking antacid before hand could help. a lot of people take antacids as a calcium supplement, also, which might be a good thing for you anyway, depending on how strict you are about your vegan diet. it may be a good idea to see a doctor, if you can, to determine if you do have iron deficiency anemia, or if the anemia is due to something else, and to see if their is some kind of physical problem going on with your tummy that could be causing the stomach aches. if you're taking an iron supplement when the anemia is actually being caused by something else, you're not doing yourself any favors.

Being Anemic means you need more iron in your blood. Iron tablets will stop the stomach aches. I believe there is a brand name Feron or something like that. Good luck!
