I am currently listing my husbands top 8 destinations for overseas and I do not know what each place has to offer or looks like. The bases we may choose from are below:

What branch is he in? The branch will determine the liklihood he'll even go to those places. For example, if he's Army, Japan and Italy are highly unlikely. Last I heard there were only two Army slots in Japan. In fact, if Army is getting an overseas station, most likely options are Germany and Korea, and if he gets Korea theres a chance you can't go with him. Overseas stations are very unlikely anyway. Most people end up in Texas.
Of those on the list, I've been to Japan, which is a great place to be. I went to Camp Zama and Camp Yasubetsu. Zama is right next to Tokyo and Yasubetsu is up in Hokkaido, so its very cold but terribly beautiful. I hear wonderful things about Germany from all my buddies stationed there, and I knew a kid once who grew up in Italy (his father was a Col. in the Air Force) and he said great things as well. I had a teacher in grade school who went to Guam and liked it, but my boyfriend who's been there says its a waste land. Its not on his list, but I've been to Guantanamo Bay and its very nice.

I love germany. Most people who are stationed here do. Rammstein is a very nice base with good housing a new hotel going up and a mall soon on base. along with a chili's and a lot to do all within minutes drives if not on base. 20 min from france. a hour from frankfurt. 2 hours from belgium. it is a great place to go and be stationed.

HI. I'm not in the military or anything but I'm from Guam.
There are military folk that could not wait to get off this island, and there are military folk that ended up making it their home.

Ramstein is better than Spang. Spang is very tiny with not much to do. Ramstein has K-town if you like being around the military and France is less than an hour away.

Ramstein is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! Lived there for 3 years SFS. Be sure and travel though. Great places to eat at and a wide selection of food choices from German to American and Mexican and Chinese. Huge plates, little prices.

fromt he choices i see youre air force. What do you want? exotic? go turkey or japan. More familiar? england. I loved germany, hated Turkey. Like ocean sports, diving fishing? Guam.
