Are people who are allergic to nuts allergic to coconuts too?

Why do people waste time giving foolish answers? To your question, the answer is yes. At least, my friend who is allergic to tree nuts is also allergic to coconuts. She can eat peanuts, which are not true nuts but are legumes, and grow underground.

The FDA now considers coconut a tree nut and very soon a coconut ingredient will require an allergy warning on food labels. example - contains tree nuts.

A family member is seriously allergic to coconut, but not other tree nuts. It is possible to be allergic to some but not all tree nuts.

Nut allergy can involve any combination of nut allergies, sometimes it will only be one nut, classically peanut. Anyone with the problem can be tested fairly easily by simple blood tests. These tests however will only come up positive if there has been exposure to the nut in question.

my sister in law was allergic to coconuts including coconut oil in shampoo/handcream etc, but not to regular nuts.

oh yes, and even peanut oil! Peanut butter, and even those they kiss who have eaten peanuts!!!

I used to have boyfriend, highly allergic, I had to carry his needle around, incase he had eaten a peanut by mistake, he could die!
