I was just wondering if anybody knew this? I have two kittys both have now fleas. They are going to be indoor cats. Do they run the risk of getting all the worms? Should I still test for worms when I take them for there check ups?

Be smart.Dont test for worms. You will spend hundreds on worm testing.Just get them the worm shot.Do you really need a test to waste your money to see if they have worms? You can test today and they could be negative but get worms in a week. The woorm shot will pevent worms for a year.

What everyone has failed to tell you is that indoor cats are not safe from fleas. My vet woke me up to this reality when my 3 cats were infested with fleas yet never went outside. Fleas can attach themselves to humans outside long enough to come in and start the process. All it takes is one female flea with eggs to start it. Every cat should be on monthly doses of Revolution and periodically looked at for worms and given a preventative medicine just in case. Most vets don't need to do anything more than an external exam for worms as they do come out... and look like little grains of rice that squirm. But if you can keep the Revolution going, that is your best option to keep both fleas and their parasites away from your cats.

Yes, you still need to test them periodically as the two conditions are unrelated. If a cat were to have a parasitic worm it would get it through ingesting them. Fleas are an external parasite and can be picked up outside or from a contaminated carpet or another pet.

Indoor cats are at risk for heartworms from mosquito bites. Mosquitos can easily get in your house and indoor cats are just as susceptible to bites from them as humans.
