I have a recipe for a "proper" cheesecake (not made it for yrs) I need curd cheese it used to be available over the deli counter @ the Supermarket, NOT anymore, any ideas where I can get it or what to use in place of it!!

Sorry curd cheese is not cottage cheese.

May depend on where the supermarket is. Curd cheese features in Jewish recipes, especially the cheesecake you mention. A few years ago I used to get mine at a Sainsbury's in London. Try your nearest Jewish area. As you say, cottage cheese is not even close!
