Why are Taliban and Al-Queda forces allowed to just set up camp there?

Because Al-Quaeda is extremely popular with the Pakistani people. The Pakistani government is walking a tight rope, trying to please the United States but also pleasing their own people.
Musharef has had many assassination attempts since siding with the United States.

From a American perspective it looks very hypocritical and frustrating... but to the Pakistani government it is survival. Would you care if the American people are upset if you led that country?

The Pakistani government is essential for the United States at this time... we cannot weaken that nation so the American government puts a blind eye to what is happening in Pakistan.

I was deployed to pakistan from oct 05 to feb 06. There is al queda there no doubts in my mind. we were there for the earthquake. The biggest part is this. These terrorists are so embeded in their lives they see america as being rich and spoiled. their view of america is paris hilton. they think all americans are like that. On our mission we helped them like the states, well some of them. The thing is they are deeply embeded into the culture and into the military and government there. they support them and they also have a lot of power in the "war" between pakistan and India. Pakistan is a boiling country and Bush did try to control it earlier. just not in a aggressive way. There is a lot that the general public does not know. not necessarily a bad thing all the time.

The bigger question is why isn't Bush doing anything about it? Could it be because they have the bomb and Bush won't dare go after anybody who has it? I know there a sovereign nation ( haha) and thats why we won't attack them, but hey Iraq was a sovereign nation to and that didn't stop Bush.
