I'd say $10 a week $2 a day or bring a bag lunch. They can save that $10 for the weekend. Teenagers nowadays need to realize what they have and not take their parents for granted. Make them work around the house to get additional money. Other than that I would say $10 a week is good.

5 dollars a week is more than enough. They are kids what do they actually need on a daily basis. They get money as an incentive for doing their chores. Allowences can stop once they are old enough to get a job or sooner. Their chores are their responsibilities they need to be done regardless if they get paid. It is a part of growing up. As far as lucnh money goes instead of buyin their lunch from grocery store you are givin them the money to ration and spend over the week. If they spend it all to soon then they have to take and make somthing from home. It is healthier that way and cheaper for you. There are also a lot of free things they can do on the weekeneds. They dont need to go to the movies every weekened. Your the boss who cares about everyone elses parents and what they do. Good luck and Good health to you.

I only give $15 for lunch money each week and $15 allowance. I pay for clothes and shoes, but if you want anything else, either put it on your Christmas list, your birthday list or save your own money! And as for clothes, I tell them how much I have to spend (say $200), and that's it (we can go to the mall where they'll get maybe 2 outfits or go to department stores for most of the clothes and the mall for 1 or 2 things and they can end up with 5-6 outfits, their choice). Also, if they always ask for name brand things (look on the clearance rack or buy out of season). Good luck and God Bless.

I used to be the human bank. Now I give them $10 per week. If they want any more than that they have to do a chore. I have a set rate for each chore. I buy their school lunches and we go school shopping at the beginning of the year when they have a budget to get what they need. It helps them get the best bargains and it helps me refrain from just handing out cash for nothing. They also get cash for Christmas, birthdays etc. and they can spend that however they want.

It varies, depending on performance. If teenager does all chores without needing reminding, $10. $5 if teenager does chores, but needs reminding. $0 if slacked off on chores, or complained. Works for us! On occasion, $20 if teenager did extra bonuses like wash care, mow lawn, etc. These seldom happen though. Most of the time it's in the $0 to $5 range, :^)

I don't have kids but when i was young my parents would buy me bus tickes for the bus to get to school, MAKE me a lunch for school (sometimes they would give me $5 to buy lunch), and give me $20 a week to do what i wanted to do with it.

I used to get $500 a month plus clothing & travel expenses, but that was back in the 80's and early 90's (10 to 18 years old). I'm cut off now. =)

I didn't give my kids an allowance, I supplied a roof over their head, clothes on their backs, food on the table and paid for their education. When they were teenagers they got jobs and learned the value of a dollar.

My parents don't give me any money. The only thing they pay for is for school lunches. I don't get spending money.
